Why I Started Blogging

My name is Amritpal Singh Nagra. I am a Punjabi thinker and programmer. For my day job, I’m a web developer at Sifars. Mostly, I have multiple reasons for things that I consciously choose to do. Doing something without any reason is a kind of the most difficult task for me. Starting with why is a kind of rule that I follow and the decision of starting a blog is not an exception to that rule. Some reasons behind starting this blog are described below and are ordered by the value that each point holds. Remember to understand, we either believe in each other or believe in someone that we believe most i.e. our “own self”. So, the readers can either choose to believe me or try these points for themselves, to understand their significance.

  1. Learning new stuff

Shallow understanding, in some ways, is worse than being unaware. It’s like feeling safe in a house with a room that no one knows about. I usually imagine a situation of explaining something I feel confident about. But someone points out a gap in my understanding and triggers defense mechanisms. So, I take offending my own ideas as a safety precaution to test and hold strong ones. In this approach, consider a version of yourself that understands but still asks dumb questions. Writing make ideas transferrable so that the same can be processed in some other mind without extra effort.

  1. Making Connections

Every person holds some ideas and opinions about each and everything. People want to connect with other people having the same ideas, values, and opinions. But to find other people with similar ideas, one would have to share his ideas with others. So, when we show courage to stand for some values, people with similar believes and ideas becomes interested in us. Holding the same values will not work if reasons are varying like two people looking for money might not have the same goals. So, it is important to hold and explain the things you believe in so that you can find out the other person with the same beliefs and values. Being part of some community can help in every expect of your life from finding a job to dealing with some major life crisis.

  1. Feedbacks

Not every idea we hold is something to believe blindly in. But each idea is worth discussing, this discussion point is very important. Sometimes the idea we are holding might already be tested by someone, or someone might have a different point of view worth looking out from. If we get to reach the person, who can show us the other point of view to look at it or who has some great valuable lesson learned about the things we are exploring. That person can save a great amount of time and trouble from our precious life.

  1. References

Sometimes we need to point out some pattern to implement, elaborate on some topic for the work we are doing, or to provide POC. The kind of explanations required might not be prepared at the spot. But if we do have some reference material ready we can easily elaborate on that. Well-written posts can be beneficial in such conditions, as we can borrow ideas to elaborate from those posts. Sometimes, even extra elaboration is not required if the case completely matches the topic in the post. We can just provide the reference to the post we have already written. These references can be beneficial even to our future self, as it would be easier to grasp points from an already prepared mind map despite reading completely new information from some random blog post.

This blog is my way of marketing and sharing my opinions. My opinions might be different tomorrow but I hope those will be better. Simplicity is difficult to achieve and great to have, I believe. I want to simplify everything for everyone’s understanding including myself.
